Position Overview: Director of Finance
The Director of Finance oversees and executes all financial functions for the Chamber, including budgeting (with Staff inputs), financial reporting, invoicing, payroll, and member account retention. In addition to handling essential finance and accounting tasks, this position engages with Chamber members to support membership retention and provides exemplary customer service. The Director of Finance reports directly to the Chamber’s President and Chief Mission Officer.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable, utilizing ChamberMaster and QuickBooks.
  • Prepare and issue checks, invoices, and deposits for both the Chamber and its Charitable Foundation.
  • Manage and organize general correspondence, such as renewal thank-you letters.
  • Maintain and update the Chart of Accounts and General Ledger for the Chamber and Charitable Foundation.
  • Prepare and present monthly financial statements.
  • Complete monthly bank account reconciliations.
Payroll & Benefits Administration
  • Oversee payroll processing and coordinate with the Chamber’s payroll service and accountants.
  • Prepare quarterly payroll tax deposits, tax returns, IRA deposits, and annual audit/review.
  • Administer employee benefits.
Compliance & Tax Reporting
  • Monitor taxable sales and work seamlessly with DCR CPA firm to file annual Sales & Use Tax Reports with the Minnesota Department of Revenue.
  • Ensure timely compliance with all financial and tax regulations.
Budgeting & Planning
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget in collaboration with DCR Chamber leadership.
Member Engagement & Retention
  • Follow up on accounts receivable and interact with DCR Chamber members to address inquiries and ensure member satisfaction.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Associate’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field; professional certification in financial services preferred.
  • Experience in the chamber of commerce, or association management industry is a plus.
  • Experience with ChamberMaster/GrowthZone or similar membership management software is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with members, volunteers, and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, and prioritization skills to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Ability to make sound judgments and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion with sensitive information.
  • Strong focus on customer service and upholding the values of member relations and quality assurance.
Physical Demands
The Director of Finance will primarily perform duties at a desk and computer for extended periods. The role occasionally requires standing and the ability to lift materials up to 35 pounds.
Work Environment
Most work will be conducted in the Chamber’s office in Eagan during regular business hours, with some off-site meetings, events, and occasional evening or weekend work. Flexibility for occasional remote work may be provided.
Time Commitment
This non-exempt position requires an average commitment of 25-30 hours per week. Flexible scheduling is available.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
