State of the Schools February 2010

Please join the Government Affairs Committee of the Dakota County Regional Chamber and River Heights Chamber at the "State of Schools in Dakota County " panel.

 

We feel it is important to keep the lines of communication between School Districts and Business Community open. The Business Community places a great importance on the local school districts and hearing an update from all the superintendents is a great way to foster a this relationship.

 

The following superintendents are invited to attend:

 

Burnsville-Eagan-Savage District 191, Dr. Randy Clegg

Farmington District 192, Dr. Brad Meeks

Inver Grove Heights District 199, Dr. Deirdre Wells

Rosemount-Apple Valley District 196, Jane Berenz

West St. Paul-Mendota Heights- Eagan District 197, Jay Haugen

 

 The future workforce is dependent on a successful k-12 education. Topics discussed include:

 

- Are demographics changing the teaching/learning methods in the classroom?

- Will online learning change the face of education?

- Are the districts keeping up with technology and how do we compare statewide?

- Is Dakota County utilizing shared services amongst our districts in light of continuing funding cuts?

- What each distrcit feels is its top three initiatives in the next few years to maintain its competitive

advantage in education?
