South Metro Young Professionals Event
The South Metro Young Professionals group is having a special event on Tuesday, April 24that 8am. There will be two featured guest speakers that will enlighten you with some financial topics.
Shannon Kehoe is a Homeownership Specialist with the Dakota County Community Development Agency (CDA). She received a double major bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Thomas in Sociology & Journalism in May 2008. Ms. Kehoe began her career on the housing counseling team at the CDA in May 2008 as a Homeownership Assistant, preparing foreclosure files, answering general foreclosure questions and filling in as needed for the Foreclosure Counseling Staff. As the demand for foreclosure counseling grew, Ms. Kehoe’s position within the department was promoted to full-time Homeownership Specialist. After this transition, Ms. Kehoe became a certified Foreclosure Prevention Specialist (certified in foreclosure intervention and default counseling), Pre-Purchase Counselor and Homeownership Educator.
Kevin Knase is also a Homeownership Specialist with the Dakota County Community Development Agency (CDA). He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis, MN) in Urban Studies in December 2010. Mr. Knase first gained experience while volunteering as a student with the University of Minnesota’s Urban Research and Outreach/Engagement Center, performing outreach to homeowners facing foreclosure in North Minneapolis by door knocking and informing them of foreclosure prevention scams. Mr. Knase began working full-time as administrative support for the foreclosure prevention program with the CDA in September of 2010, preparing and auditing foreclosure prevention files, writing file retention, security and training policies, and performing outreach to homeowners facing foreclosure. In February 2011, Mr. Knase began counseling homeowners facing foreclosure and was subsequently promoted to full-time Homeownership Specialist in May 2011. Mr. Knase received his certification in Foreclosure Counseling from the Minnesota Homeownership Center in April 2011 and his certification in Homebuyer Education Methods in June 2011.
Both Shannon and Kevin are responsible for homebuyer education, pre-purchase counseling, and mortgage foreclosure prevention counseling. Specific counseling activities include providing one-on-one budgeting, credit, and mortgage foreclosure prevention counseling and instructing group-setting homebuyer education classes. Both regularly attend webinars, seminars and conferences to further her knowledge of housing counseling and education.
