This family-fun event presented by Thomson Reuters and a variety of local businesses to benefit Neighbors, Inc. will be held Saturday, September 19 from 11 am - 3 pm at Kaposia Landing in South Saint Paul.
The event is open to the general public and offers concessions, games and activities for all ages. Duck souvenirs and raffle tickets for a variety of prizes will be available for purchase. Raffle tickets are $1. All proceeds benefit Neighbors, Inc, northern Dakota County's basic needs and social service agency.
According to Dan Russell, Neighbors Development Director, the goal of this event is to raise $15,000 for Neighbors' general operating fund. "The depand for our assistance continues to grow and we need resources to serve those in need. We are excited to provide this event again to our community and thier families.
Rubber ducks will be available for adoptions at $5 each or $25 for a Family Fun Pack of five ducks. Ducks can be purchased at the event and before at
www.neighborsmn.org The duck race will start at 2:01 pm. The ducks will float through a race course provided by Wakota CAER and WCEC, which sets up emergency booms for oil spills and other hazardous spills in the Mississippi River.
The booms will make a funnel to allow the victorious ducks to speed to victory. The length of the course will be determined by the speed of the current. Boats will be standing by to guard against any runaway ducks. Prizes include: 1st Place - 50cc Scooter, 2nd Place - 40" Flat Screen TV, 3rd Place - Drive in Movie in Your Backyard for an Evening, Last Place - $100.
