Dakota County Public Affairs Series: Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund and What It Means for Minnesota Businesses
When Minnesota businesses were forced to close, employees were able to access unemployment insurance from the state run Unemployment Insurance (UI) Trust Fund.
In April 2022, Minnesota businesses will be taxed again to fund the UI Trust Fund. Unless the deficit is addressed before invoices go out, Minnesota businesses will get a double- digit payroll tax increase at a time when state government has extra money.
