SUMMARY:Mentoring Information Session - Kids 'n Kinship
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an upcoming informational session about becoming a mentor at Kids 'n Kinship! (See below for a list of other upcoming informational sessions if this time does not work for you)\n\n\n\nMentors are always needed for children in the Dakota County community at Kids 'n Kinship. There are currently nearly 40 children waiting to be matched with a supportive adult\, and 30 of those children are boys.\n\nThis is an ongoing volunteer opportunity and we do ask for a minimum one-year commitment\, meeting with your mentee once a week\n\nWhat it's all about:\n\nKids 'n Kinship is a 49-year-old\, non-profit organization that matches children\, who have a need for an additional supportive relationship with carefully screened adult volunteers. Volunteers spend one hour per week with the child out in the community.\n\nKids 'n Kinship match individuals (21+)\, couples\, or families with youth ages 5-16 in need of positive role model.\n\n\n	We encourage low / no-cost activities like playing a board game\, sledding\, taking a trip to a park\, bike riding\, baking cookies\, playing catch or going to the library\n	We provide training and ongoing support and offer discounted passes to area attractions and events to make activities affordable\n	Mentoring matches are made based on compatible personalities\, ages and interests as well as preferences of both the volunteer mentor and the youth and parent/guardian.\n\n\nThrough their Mentor relationship\, the child will form a long-term friendship with a caring adult\, receive positive attention and develop the sense of self-worth that is essential to successfully function in life.\n\nYou can make a difference in the life of a child or teen living in Apple Valley\, Burnsville\, Eagan\, Farmington\, Lakeville\, or Rosemount!\n\nLearn more at an upcoming Information Session:\n\n\n	\n	\n		Tuesday\, October 12th from 6:00 - 7:00 PM\, Virtual\n		Thursday\, October 28th from 6:30 - 7:30 PM\, Robert Trail Library\n		Monday\, November 8th from 6:30 - 7:30 PM\, Virtual\n		Monday\, November 22nd from 6:00 - 7:00 PM\, In-person (location TBD)\n	\n	\n\n\nIf these times don't work for you\, we will schedule a time that does.
