DESCRIPTION:A Healthy & Fit Minnesota - Roundtable Discussion\n\nFeaturing Dr. Pamela Peeke\, Senior Advisor to the United States Surgeon General & Author of "The Hunger Fix"\n\n \n\nWe live in a world where the obesity rate has doubled since 1980\, and chronic diseases most of which are related to obesity cause sixty percent (60%) of deaths globally.  In Minnesota\, sixty-three percent (63%) of adults are obese or over weight resulting in related medical costs totaling more than $1.3 billion.\n\n\n\nIn an effort to raise awareness regarding the obesity pandemic and its adverse effects on our health care system the Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting "A Healthy & Fit Minnesota - Roundtable Discussion."  The discussion will include the kick-off of FIT Minnesota\, a coalition of Minnesota-based health clubs and partner organizations with a shared goal of increasing the physical activity of all Minnesotans. \n\n\n\nThe FIT Minnesota coalition includes: \n\nAnytime Fitness\n\nLifeTime Fitness\n\nSnap Fitness\n\nThe YMCA-Twin Cities\n\nInternational Health\, Racquet & Sportsclub Association and their local members\n\n\n\nFIT Minnesota believes that increased physical activity will lower health care costs\, increase productivity and improve the quality of life for all Minnesotans.
