SUMMARY:2021 Leaders in Local Government Awards
DESCRIPTION:**Please register to attend by using the green highlighted web link on the bottom right hand side of the page. Thank you!**\n\n\n\nOn Thursday\, September 23rd\, the St. Paul Area Chamber and East Metro Chamber partners will host the annual Leaders in Local Government Awards Ceremony. Join us as we honor five organizations and an Elected Official of Note in the East Metro who exemplify and demonstrate innovation\, excellence\, and success in local government. \n\nThis year's speaker is Scott Nadeau\, former Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety in Maplewood. Scott has demonstratable experience in reforming his departments in a way that prioritizes community engagement. His volunteer service\, for Big Brothers Big Sisters\, the Lee Carlson Center for Mental Health & Well-Being\, and the Minnesota 10th Judicial District Committee on Equal Justice\, underscore the things he cares about. \n\n\n\nReflections on Policing\n\nAt a time when our communities are having difficult conversations about policing and police reform\, this year's speaker Police Chief Scott Nadeau\, who retired in June 2021\, will reflect on his 34 years in policing and his work to transform two Minnesota Police Departments. A nationally recognized speaker and educator on community policing\, policing in diverse communities\, problem solving\, and transforming police agencies\, he will offer some examples and suggestions that inform our ongoing discussion about the need for better policing.\n\nThis hybrid event is being offered both in-person and virtually\, and we invite you to attend in whichever way you are most comfortable and able. We will have masks and hand sanitizer available. Please stay home if you don't feel well\, if you have symptoms of COVID-19\, or if you have been in recent contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19. Thank you.
