What Does the American Rescue Plan
Mean for Dakota County
The American Rescue Plan (ARP) was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Biden on March 11, 2021. Minnesota's state and local governments, its ailing hospitality industry, struggling small businesses and the agricultural sector will get a financial boost from the $1.9 trillion COVID relief package. An estimated nearly $4.9 billion will flow to Minnesota governments, including almost $2.6 billion to the state and another $2.1 billion for cities, counties and other local governments.
The ARP is also intended to provide immediate relief to families and workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic with direct relief payments, expanded tax credits, homeowner and renter assistance, and support for state, local, and tribal governments across the country.
Dakota County will receive approximately $84 Million dollars in ARP funds. As the County Board discusses how to use the funds, there are a lot of questions as to what projects and initiatives will be funded. Please join us for an important conversation with invited speakers Mary Liz Holberg, Chair of the Dakota County Board of Commissioners, and Matt Smith, County Manager.
